Fausto Melotti's Ceramics Celebrated in Lucca Exhibition

From March 25 to June 25, 2023, the Complesso monumentale di San Micheletto in Lucca will host an exhibition titled 'Fausto Melotti. La ceramica'. Curated by Ilaria Bernardi and supported by the Fondazione Ragghianti, this showcase honors the ceramic works of Italian artist Fausto Melotti (1901–1986), renowned for his contributions to sculpture, painting, drawing, and poetry. The exhibition places Melotti's ceramics, produced from the post-war era to the early 1960s, within the context of applied arts as fine art, a notion advocated by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti in 1948. It comprises four sections, including archival documents, notable ceramic sculptures, a rare video interview with Antonia Mulas, and everyday objects reimagined as sculptures, alongside pieces by various artists. The event is in partnership with the Fondazione Fausto Melotti and the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche di Faenza, with a catalogue published by Edizioni Fondazione Ragghianti Studi sull'arte.
