Fausto Gilberti's Happy Mountain at Casa Alpina in Ollomont

Fausto Gilberti presents 'Happy Mountain' at Casa Alpina in Ollomont, a remote Alpine village at 1,400 meters altitude with 150 residents and 300 cows. The project is a collaboration with Simona Oliveti, a local resident, and curator Vanni Cuoghi, who also teaches at Liceo Artistico delle Orsoline in Milan. Ten students from class 4F participated, working alongside Gilberti in a Renaissance-style workshop. The exhibition features ink and pastel works by Gilberti, all centered on the theme of mountain holidays as a magical place for self-discovery. The students painted large-scale versions of Gilberti's signature 'omini' (little men) on freshly whitewashed walls, selected from hundreds of sketches. The Casa Alpina, formerly a summer colony for Barnabite fathers and before that a miners' residence for a now-disused copper mine, now houses the works. Gilberti is known for illustrated books published by Corraini, including titles on contemporary artists like Yayoi Kusama, Banksy, and Louise Bourgeois.
