Fausta Squatriti's Geometric Period in Posthumous Milan Show
Galleria Tommaso Calabro in Milan is hosting a posthumous tribute to Fausta Squatriti (1941–2024), focusing on her geometric period from the 1970s–1980s. The exhibition features 20 works from three series: Studi cromatici, Sculture Nere, and Fisiologia del quadrato, alongside archival documents and posters. Squatriti, who died in April 2024 at age 82, was a multifaceted artist—painter, sculptor, poet, writer, teacher, and publisher. She studied at Accademia di Brera, initially working in Informale before shifting to geometry and calculation. Her tripartite works combined photography, abstract geometry, and three-dimensional objects. The show includes black volumes projecting squares into space, colored geometric studies, and wall-mounted boxes containing industrial and organic materials. The exhibition is part of the gallery's program linked to dealer Alexandre Iolas, who represented Squatriti in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
