Fatima Hellberg inaugurates mumok era with Tolia Astakhishvili's Tolia Curriculum

exhibition · 2026-05-25

From June 18 to May 22, 2026, mumok in Vienna will unveil an innovative initiative under the leadership of General Director Fatima Hellberg. In anticipation of her inaugural solo museum exhibition, Tolia Astakhishvili introduces Tolia Curriculum, a concept that redefines the timeline of exhibition creation. Over several months, she has been crafting her exhibition on-site. Tolia Curriculum encourages audience participation in the production and installation processes, which are usually hidden from view. This approach disrupts traditional museum practices and emphasizes transitional moments that lack a distinct start or finish. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to experience the evolving work, marking a significant milestone for mumok. “I enjoy uniting people and fostering environments for creativity. Everything is a collaboration or a memory,” Astakhishvili remarked.
