institutional · 2026-04-24

In October 2025, Fatima Hellberg, currently the director of Kunstverein in Bonn, will take on the role of general director at Mumok, the modern art museum in Vienna. She will replace Karola Kraus, who has been at the helm for 15 years. The announcement was made by Andrea Mayer, Austria's state secretary for arts and culture, who commended Hellberg as a creative leader with international connections. Hellberg has previously curated exhibitions at notable venues such as Tate Modern, ICA London, CCA Wattis Institute, and Malmö Konsthall. Her past roles include artistic director at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart from 2015 to 2019 and curator at Cubitt and Electra in London.
