Father of Georgia school shooter sentenced to 15 years for providing gun

Colin Gray, the father of Colt Gray, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday for providing the firearm used in the September 4, 2024, shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia. His son, Colt Gray, had previously been sentenced to life without parole for killing two students and two teachers in the attack, located 70 km (45 miles) northeast of Atlanta. The defense requested a 10-year prison term followed by 10 years of probation, while the prosecution sought 80 years. Judge Nicholas Primm, who also presided over Colt Gray's sentencing, characterized Colin Gray's crimes as negligence "tethered to the tragedy committed by his son." Primm acknowledged the immense heartache caused but emphasized the need to set aside emotion in sentencing.
