Fashion and Advertising Exhibition Traces Italian Identity at Fondazione Magnani-Rocca

At the Fondazione Magnani-Rocca in Parma, the exhibition 'Moda e pubblicità in Italia. 1950 – 2000' delves into the development of Italian fashion and advertising from the post-World War II era to the year 2000. Curated by Dario Cimorelli, Eugenia Paulicelli, and Stefano Roffi, it illustrates how fashion and communication contributed to the Made in Italy brand. Visitors will hear Giorgio Armani's voice from Martin Scorsese's 1990 film 'Made in Milan'. The showcase features the emergence of Italian fashion in the 1950s, Oliviero Toscani's bold 1970s campaigns for Jesus jeans, and Milan's establishment as a fashion center. Notable designers include Armani, Valentino, and Versace, while photographers like Alfa Castaldi and Gian Paolo Barbieri are also highlighted. The exhibition discusses the influence of television, particularly Carosello, and magazines such as Amica, founded with Dino Buzzati in 1962, on societal changes and women's roles. Spanning from 1950 to 2000, it traces the evolution of visual language and its effect on collective imagination.
