Farm Cultural Park in Favara Plans Children's Museum and Architecture School
Farm Cultural Park, a cultural center in Favara, Sicily, housed in a restored ruin in the historic Sette Cortili district, was founded in June 2010 by notary Andrea Bartoli and lawyer Florinda Saieva. Now, they are renovating an 18th-century building, Palazzo Micciché (400 sqm), to create a Children's Museum and the Sou School of Architecture for children, named after architect Sou Fujimoto. The project, designed by architect Castelli (Studio Laps – Gruppo Vidé), launched a crowdfunding campaign a year ago, raising €24,750 of the €1 million needed. The Association of Children's Museums has invited Farm to join as an emerging museum. The museum will feature play areas, multimedia labs, exhibition spaces, and a small theater. The Sou School will teach DIY culture through workshops with international artists and architects. For adults, The Farm Institute of Art will offer classes in art, architecture, design, photography, fashion, and cooking, in collaboration with national and international excellences. Meanwhile, ScenarioFarm, a space for video dance, residencies, and live performances, opens July 8, with dance events every weekend throughout the summer.
