Farkhondeh Shahroudi's first solo show at Barbara Thumm explores revocation

exhibition · 2026-05-02

'Widerruf' (Revocation), the inaugural solo exhibition of German-Iranian artist and poet Farkhondeh Shahroudi, is on display at Galerie Barbara Thumm. This exhibition captures a time fraught with uncertainty, where ceasefires, social structures, human rights, and international laws can be abruptly overturned. Born in Tehran in 1962, Shahroudi engaged in painting and was an active participant in the revolution against the Shah during her youth. In 1990, she emigrated to Germany with her son, later pursuing studies in design and art in Dortmund. Over the past three decades, she has cultivated a multifaceted oeuvre that bridges painting, visual art, poetry, and theatre.
