Fares Cachoux's First Italian Solo Show Opens in Civitanova Marche

exhibition · 2026-07-30

The first Italian solo exhibition of Franco-Syrian artist Fares Cachoux, titled …Oltre, is on view at Spazio Multimediale San Francesco in Civitanova Marche from August 13 to November 3. Curated by Cristina Falco and Enrico Lattanzi, the show is organized by Museo MAGMA and Cartacanta APS. It brings together key series by Cachoux, who was born in Homs, Syria, and later moved to Paris for studies. His graphic style is characterized by essential forms, flat color fields, and sharp lines, reducing each element to its communicative function. The exhibition includes series such as EYE to EYE, which focuses on the eyes of women wearing the niqab as emblems of individuality and resistance; La Rivoluzione Siriana, a corpus of posters chronicling the Syrian conflict; Polka Dots, which covers bombs, skulls, and weapons with polka dots to question the normalization of violence; and Queens, an homage to women and nature as generative forces. Other sections address war and reconciliation, tolerance, sexism, and environmental protection. The show marks the first retrospective dedicated to an Arab artist by MAGMA, the Museum Archive of Graphics and Posters of Civitanova Marche.
