Farah Nabulsi's 'The Teacher' premieres at 43rd Torino Film Festival

Farah Nabulsi's debut feature film 'The Teacher' will be released on December 11, 2025, after premiering out of competition at the 43rd Torino Film Festival. The film follows a Palestinian teacher (Saleh Bakri) who tries to help a student (Muhammad Abed El Rahman) who has lost everything, while developing a relationship with a UN volunteer (Imogen Poots). Inspired by true events, the film uses powerful imagery such as a living room amid ruins and a rabbit rescued from rubble to symbolize Palestinian resilience. It addresses themes of oppression, injustice, and the impossibility of pacifism in an abominable situation, contrasting with the Oscar-winning documentary 'No Other Land' (2025). Nabulsi previously won a BAFTA in 2021 and was Oscar-nominated for her short film 'The Present'. The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival 2023.
