FAMM Museum in Mougins Rehangs Collection, Adds Baroque Works

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Female Artists of the Mougins Museum (FAMM), the first museum outside the US with a permanent collection solely of women artists, is completely renewing its permanent exhibition. Founded by collector Christian Levett, the museum in Mougins between Cannes and Nice now starts its art historical narrative with the Baroque period, earlier than its previous Impressionist-to-contemporary focus. A centerpiece is a large work (over two meters tall) by Artemisia Gentileschi, dated circa 1649–50, who is now regarded as a feminist art history icon. The exhibition then proceeds to Impressionism, featuring Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, Marie Bracquemond, and Eva Gonzales, before moving into dreamscapes.
