Family Stereo announces debut album 'The Thread' out July 31
Family Stereo, the musical project of singer-songwriter Blake Watt, will release its debut album 'The Thread' on July 31 via Bella Union. The second single 'Waiting on Nina' dropped May 27, following 'Fault Lines'. The album explores distance and human connection through folk and delicate arrangements. Blake, 25, is the son of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt (Everything But The Girl). Recorded over nine months in Sam Hodder-Williams' north London studio, the album features musicians Pendo Masote (violin), Tom Allan (banjo), Ella Bleakley (vocals), and George Vaux (bass). Blake's earlier singles 'Matter', 'I Knew I Loved You Then!', and 'Early Promise' (over 215,000 Spotify streams) built his audience. He performed at Kendal Calling, Windmill, Lexington, and with a reformed Everything But The Girl at Moth Club in 2025. Influences include Elliott Smith, John Martyn, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Adrianne Lenker.
