Faig Ahmed to Represent Azerbaijan at 61st Venice Biennale with Quantum Poetry Installation

exhibition · 2026-04-19

Faig Ahmed will represent Azerbaijan at the 61st Venice Biennale, running from 9 May through 22 November 2026. His pavilion is located in the Campo de la Tana. Ahmed's work explores connections between mystical poetry and quantum physics, creating interactive spaces where individuals engage with themselves through these media. The artist describes the Biennale as one of the few remaining global platforms for free, equal dialogue without conflict. He works with a large team including a curator, physicist, production managers, and doctors. Ahmed's piece responds to curator Koyo Kouoh's theme 'In Minor Keys' by focusing on subtle, often unnoticed elements. He views art as a global language with local dialects, rooted in both culture and biology. The artist declined to name Azerbaijan's most important historical artist. His work 'Ancestors' (2026) is featured, courtesy of Faig Ahmed Studio and Sapar Contemporary in New York. Ahmed notes that everyday Azerbaijani speech is poetic, rich in imagery and connected to centuries-old oral poetry traditions. When asked if art can change the world, he responded that it can change a person. The artist stated he looks forward to nothing but art while in Venice.
