FAI Lombardia: site-specific shows at Villa Panza and Villa Necchi Campiglio

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano (FAI) has opened new exhibitions at Villa Panza in Varese and Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan, featuring site-specific interventions by contemporary artists and architects. At Villa Panza, the project-room "La condizione del desiderio" by Arcangelo Sassolino (Vicenza, 1967) runs until February 23, 2025. Curated by Angela Vettese, the monumental installation in the Scuderia Grande merges art and science, echoing Giuseppe Panza di Biumo's research. Sassolino originally conceived the work in 2009 for Z33 in Hasselt, Belgium, and reconfigured it for the villa. The exhibition coincides with "Nel Tempo. Opere della Collezione Panza," currently on view. Gabriella Belli, curator of exhibition activities and scientific program, stated the project continues Villa Panza's tradition of hosting works that dialogue with art, nature, and science. At Villa Necchi Campiglio, the exhibition "Nelle case – Milan interiors 1928-1978" runs until March 16, 2025, based on the volume published by Hoepli. Curated by Enrico Morteo and Orsina Simona Pierini with installation by Daniele Ledda, it presents over 200 interiors designed in Milan between 1928 and 1978, featuring works by Piero Portaluppi, Nanda Vigo, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Salvati e Tresoldi, Gio Ponti, and Joe Colombo. The show includes over 500 graphic and photographic documents from archives, foundations, and magazines, displayed on lecterns and accompanied by podcasts.
