FAI Autumn Days 2024: Over 700 extraordinary cultural sites open across Italy for two days

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

The 13th edition of the FAI Autumn Days (Giornate FAI d’Autunno) will take place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October 2024, opening over 700 extraordinary cultural sites across 360 Italian cities. Organized by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), the event invites Italians to discover the country's cultural wealth. Among the highlights is the Academy in Rome, part of an itinerary exploring the Gianicolo hill, including the garden of the Fontana dell’Acqua Paola, which offers a panoramic view of Rome. FAI President Marco Magnifico emphasized the variety and surprise of the chosen sites. Other notable openings include Villa Rey in Turin, one of the oldest 17th-century "vignes" now housing the Automotoclub Storico Italiano since 2006; Villa d’Agliè, another historic villa from the same period; the Acquedotto del Verde in Abruzzo's Val Serviera, with its emerald-green water; and, for the first time, the hypogeum hall beneath the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola in Naples, six meters below Piazza del Plebiscito. Visitors are encouraged to make a free contribution to support FAI's cultural heritage preservation mission.
