FAI and Intesa Sanpaolo Fund 24 Cultural Projects Across Italy
FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) and Intesa Sanpaolo are investing a total of €400,000 in 24 restoration initiatives across 15 regions in Italy, as part of the eighth edition of 'I Luoghi del Cuore.' The previous edition in 2016 saw participation from over 1.5 million individuals and garnered more than 33,000 votes. The Castello di Sammezzano in Reggello (Florence), the winning site, is currently in a state of uncertainty due to the annulment of a May 9 auction, which returned ownership to a judicial custodian, prompting FAI to halt its €50,000 funding. Notable funded projects include €40,000 for the Vasarian Museum in Bosco Marengo and €30,000 for Caglieron Caves in Fregona. The ninth census will commence in May 2018.
