Fadi Alagi's Twin Phone Splits Into a Distraction-Free Device by Hand

Antwerp-based designer Fadi Alagi, collaborating with Olivier Verbeke, has created Twin, a smartphone that physically separates into two halves to enforce digital minimalism. The device consists of a simple phone with an E-ink display and a smart module with a larger battery and full smartphone capabilities. When pulled apart, the simple phone offers only calls, texts, and essential tools, with no social media or notifications. The design uses recycled plastic and screws instead of glue for repairability. Twin joins a trend of distraction-focused devices like Punkt's MC03 and Pentagram's KARRI messenger, but its restriction is a physical seam rather than software. The concept was developed in Antwerp in 2026.
