Fabrizio Prevedello's Cave-Like Installation at Cardelli & Fontana
The Cardelli & Fontana gallery in Sarzana hosts Fabrizio Prevedello's third solo show, curated by Saverio Verini. The Padua-born sculptor (1972) lives in Tuscany, working between marble quarries and Apennine heights. His works combine natural materials like Rosso Levanto marble with artificial elements such as metal stirrups and flexible disc cuts, exploring the coexistence of natural and artificial forms. All sculptures are wall-mounted against a unifying cardboard background, replacing the usual white walls. Soft, indirect lighting creates a suspended, quiet atmosphere reminiscent of a cave—an intimate space for reflection and cognitive slowing, as the artist describes. The dark, melancholic tone pervades the gallery, evoking a constant soundtrack. The exhibition, titled "Rupe" (Cliff), synthesizes voids and solids, volumes and transparencies, generating new matter and places.
