Fabrizio Favale's 'Primavera' performance on an artificial hill in Bologna
Choreographer Fabrizio Favale staged 'Primavera. I'm growing all around', the third cycle of 'Le stagioni invisibili', on an artificial hill in Galliera, Bologna. The hill is a former non-hazardous waste landfill converted to biogas production. The performance, part of the Agorà theater festival directed by Elena Di Gioia, was originally scheduled for March but postponed to late June due to COVID-19. Six performers in celestial bodysuits moved through the landscape, using colored smoke bombs to mark stages. Favale described the site as lacking landscape enchantment, a dying giant, where unnaturally colored dream figures perform a final dance before migrating. The choreography featured winged, open gestures, evoking birds nesting and ready to fly.
