Fabrizio Favale's Le Stagioni Invisibili: Site-Specific Dance Across Seasons

other · 2026-05-04

Fabrizio Favale and Compagnia Le Supplici presented Le stagioni invisibili, a year-long cycle of four site-specific dance performances in the Bologna region from October 2018 to May 2019. Each event marked a season: autumn at Boscovivo in Argelato, winter at the Concave industrial site with sand dunes, spring in a poplar grove, and summer at the La Rizza nature reserve. The project, a special initiative of Agorà under the artistic direction of Elena Di Gioia, was promoted by Unione Reno Galliera and supported by the Emilia-Romagna region, produced by Associazione culturale Liberty. Favale described it as a nomadic, reproducible work requiring open agricultural space. Performers immersed themselves in each location, responding to light, sounds, and forms, creating an epiphanic imagery through movement. At La Rizza, spectators encountered dancers mimicking birds, still figures in colored tunics, and a slow procession by a lake, blending human and animal forms. The project explores the concept of "third landscape" coined by botanist Gilles Clément, emphasizing participatory transhumance between poetry and reality.
