Fabrizio Dusi's 'Golden Age' at Monte Verità
A site-specific exhibition by Fabrizio Dusi (born 1974 in Sondrio) is on view at Monte Verità in Ascona, Switzerland. Titled 'Golden Age,' the show occupies the Bauhaus-style hotel and its garden, reinterpreting the history of the early 20th-century alternative vegetarian colony through pop aesthetics. Dusi's synthetic lines and colored neon works include 'Liberi' (2021), a blue neon word marking a new beginning, and 'Anarchy,' which reflects the rock carved into the hotel. In the park, blue busts of Eve and Adam emerge from the ground, with Eve in a primary position, alluding to the colony's emancipatory ideals. The painting cycle in the Balint room depicts a fantastic garden and a round dance referencing a famous photograph of the founders. Three principles—liberty, anarchy, and utopia—are diffused throughout the hotel. The exhibition aims to valorize Monte Verità's historical and cultural heritage through cultural meetings, events, and shows.
