Fabrizio De André commemorated with album reissues and Crêuza de Mä tour

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

Twenty-five years after his death on January 11, 1999, Italian singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André is being celebrated throughout 2024 with a series of initiatives organized by Fondazione Fabrizio De André Onlus and Sony Music Italia under the project "Way Point. Da Dove Venite… Dove Andate?". The project includes the complete chronological reissue of all 14 studio albums, enriched with special booklets containing lyrics, autograph notes, unpublished writings from the Centro studi De André at the University of Siena, and interview excerpts. The first seven albums were released earlier; on June 7, 2024, three more albums—Volume 8, Rimini, and Fabrizio De André (L’Indiano)—will be reissued. Additionally, 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of Crêuza de Mä, an album sung entirely in Genoese dialect and released in spring 1984. The album, written by De André and Mauro Pagani (founding member of PFM), was hailed by David Byrne as the "most important world music album." Pagani is leading a summer tour from July 2 to August 8, 2024, performing the album with a six-piece ensemble and two vocalists at five Italian locations: Villa Arconati in Bollate, Carpi (Modena), Forte di Exilles, Fiesole (Estate Fiesolana at Teatro Romano), and Monforte d’Alba (Monfortinjazz). Pagani stated on social media that the album was recorded in 1983 and released the following year, describing it as "timeless and placeless."
