Fabrizio De André biopic 'Principe Libero' to hit Italian cinemas in January

A biopic about legendary Italian singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André, titled 'Fabrizio De André. Principe Libero,' will be released in Italian cinemas on January 23 and 24, 2018, before airing on Rai1 in February. The film is co-produced by Rai Fiction and Bibi Film, written by Francesca Serafini and Giordano Meacci, and directed by Luca Facchini. Luca Marinelli plays De André, with a cast including Valentina Bellé, Elena Radonicich, Davide Iacopini, Gianluca Gobbi, and Ennio Fantastichini. The title is inspired by a quote from British pirate Samuel Bellamy, which appears in the liner notes of De André's album 'Le nuvole.' The release coincides with the anniversaries of De André's death on January 11, 1999, and his birth on February 18, 1940. Fernanda Pivano once called De André's voice 'the voice of God.'
