Fabrizio Barozzi: ogni progetto è un prototipo, mai soluzioni generiche

Fabrizio Barozzi, co-founder of Barozzi Veiga alongside Alberto Veiga, shares insights about his career in a video interview for the Past Present Future project by Itinerant Office. Hailing from Rovereto, he studied at IUAV in Venice, the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla, and the École d'Architecture de Paris La Villette. The Barcelona-based firm, comprising around twenty-five architects, received the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2015 for the Szczecin Philharmonic in Poland. Recent projects include the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne and Tanzhaus Zürich, both located in Switzerland. A year ago, they were commissioned to renovate the Art Institute of Chicago, the second-largest museum in the U.S. Barozzi emphasizes the need to maintain local distinctions while rejecting generic solutions, advising young architects to cultivate patience, trust, and optimism.
