Fabio Mollo's 'My Soul Summer' Explores Music and Identity

Fabio Mollo's new film 'My Soul Summer' premieres at Alice nella Città and will be in theaters on October 24, 25, and 26, 2024, distributed by Europictures. The film stars Casadilego (Elisa Coclite), winner of X Factor 2020, in her screen debut. The story follows Anita, a young woman pursuing her dream of music, who meets Vins (Tommaso Ragno), a pop rock singer from a different generation. The film explores themes of dedication, sacrifice, and identity across three generations of women: Anita, her mother (Anna Ferzetti), and grandmother (Lunetta Savino). Mollo emphasizes that music is not random in the film; every song Anita listens to reveals something about her. The director, known for 'Anni da cane', 'Il padre d’Italia', and 'Il sud è niente', describes his approach as deeply personal, using cinema to explore life and identity. He collaborated closely with Casadilego, creating a playlist to communicate through music. The film also features Luka Zunic and Matteo Oscar Giuggioli.
