Fabio Mauri's 'De Oppressione' Opens at Triennale Milano Ahead of Centenary

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Curated by Ilaria Bernardi, the exhibition 'Fabio Mauri. De Oppressione' at Triennale Milano explores the theme of oppression across the artist's career from the 1970s to the 2000s. Organized in collaboration with Associazione Genesi, founded and chaired by Letizia Moratti, the show features works addressing political, cultural, and social oppression, including the site-specific installation 'Amore Mio' (1970), never before exhibited in Italy since its debut in Montepulciano. Other key works include 'Rebibbia' (2006), which projects a film onto a metal cabinet from Rome's Rebibbia prison, and 'Ricostruzione della memoria a luce spenta' (1988), a performance-documentation involving electroshock testimony. The exhibition runs from December 3, 2025, to February 15, 2026, and kicks off centenary celebrations for Mauri's 100th birthday in 2026. Future events include a retrospective at MAMbo in Bologna and a traveling show at Mudam in Luxembourg. On December 10, 2025, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev will present the online version of Mauri's catalogue raisonné at Triennale.
