Fabio Cirifino, co-founder of Studio Azzurro, dies at 76

Fabio Cirifino, an artist and the co-founder of Studio Azzurro, passed away at the age of 76 on October 4, 2025. He was born in Milan in 1949 and began his career as a photographer, establishing his practice in 1972. In 1978, he launched Studio Azzurro Fotografia, specializing in architectural photography. Cirifino co-produced the film "Facce di festa" in 1980, which led to the creation of Studio Azzurro Produzioni in 1982, known for its innovative videoambientazioni. Notable projects included "Luci d'inganni" (1982) and "Il Nuotatore" (1984). From 1994, they worked on "ambienti sensibili" with cutting-edge cameras. Their art was showcased in museums, such as "Il giardino delle anime" at the New York Hall of Science. Cirifino was politically active, citing the Mediterranean crisis of the 1990s as the impetus for "Dove va tutta 'sta gente?" His final Instagram post on September 22 expressed support for a museum dedicated to Palestinian traditions in Bethlehem.
