Fabio Cavallucci unveils new vision for Museo Pecci at Art Basel

At Art Basel, Fabio Cavallucci, director of the Centro Pecci in Prato, outlined his plans to transform the institution into a multidisciplinary 'center for the arts' encompassing visual art, music, theater, dance, cinema, fashion, and architecture. The new model emphasizes public participation, extended evening hours, and socially relevant themes. Cavallucci cited the Palais de Tokyo's early 2000s programming and the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven as influences, alongside Polish museums' provocative thematic approaches. The presentation on June 15, 2016, at the Swissôtel Le Plaza Basel will include Prato's mayor Matteo Biffoni, Fondazione Pecci president Irene Sanesi, and Tuscany vice president Monica Barni. The Centro Pecci is now managed by the newly formed Fondazione delle Arti Contemporanee in Toscana, created by the Comune di Prato with the Regione Toscana soon joining. Private support continues from the Pecci family despite the recent death of Elena Pecci. The grand opening and inaugural exhibition details will also be announced.
