Fabien Giraud & Raphaël Siboni: The Feral, a 1,000-Year Project
Pierre Huyghe selected Fabien Giraud and Raphaël Siboni for Future Greats 2023. Their completed series The Unmanned (2014–22) comprises episodic works exploring contingency of meaning. Their new project, The Feral, unfolds over 1,000 years on a hill in rural France, where forests, streams, fields, and humans become supports for developing an inhuman intelligence. Each year, invited artists transform the site, testing the hypothesis that the more domesticated synthetic intelligence becomes, the more feral humans and the world grow. Giraud and Siboni live in Paris. Recent exhibitions include Mona (Tasmania), Liverpool Biennial, Biennale de Lyon, Okayama Art Summit, Palais de Tokyo (Paris), and Casino Luxembourg. In 2022, Mousse Publishing released Fabien Giraud & Raphaël Siboni: The Unmanned. Huyghe, a multimedia artist based in New York, launched a permanent installation at Kistefos Museum in Jevnaker, Norway in 2022.
