Fabbrica Europa 2016 Opens in Florence with Gamelan and 4 steps 4 angel

The 23rd Fabbrica Europa, an interdisciplinary festival held in Florence, commenced at the Stazione Leopolda featuring two significant performances: Gamelan and 4 steps 4 angel. Gamelan, created by choreographers Michele Di Stefano, Fabrizio Favale, and Cristina Rizzo, builds on the Balinese Platform that began in Santarcangelo in 2014. This 90-minute piece showcases twenty performers, including Rizzo, Favale, Irene Russolillo, and others, who alternate between solo acts and group scenes on a bare stage, with time marked by a bell and musical interludes. Meanwhile, 4 steps 4 angel, choreographed by Charlotte Zerbey, presents a poetic trio of female dancers addressing gender issues, inspired by the Elizabethan tradition of young men in female roles, as they transition from male costumes to revealing attire.
