F.C. Gundlach's Photography Collection Secured at Hamburg's Deichtorhallen Until 2046

Hamburg's Deichtorhallen will continue hosting F.C. Gundlach's photography collection through 2046, extending a partnership that began in 2003. The late photographer, curator, and collector's permanent loan will occupy a dedicated section on the first floor of the Haus der Photografie. According to the Hamburg Senate, the collection has expanded to 14,000 works, growing by 5,000 pieces. This arrangement fulfills Gundlach's wish to keep his prominent collection in Hamburg. The Senate emphasized that continuing this successful cooperation aligns with the photographer's desires. Gundlach passed away in 2021, but his legacy remains preserved through this extended exhibition. The collection's presence at the Deichtorhallen has been uninterrupted since its initial placement two decades ago. This long-term commitment ensures public access to one of Germany's significant photography archives for another generation.
