Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino Exhibition at Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

A small exhibition at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid celebrates the work of Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino, a renowned Italian couple in theatre, opera, and film. Frigerio, a set designer, and Squarciapino, a costume designer, have collaborated for over fifty years, notably with Giorgio Strehler at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano. Squarciapino won an Oscar in 1991 for her costumes in Cyrano de Bergerac. The exhibition coincides with their debut at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Pablo Sorózabal's La Tabernera del Puerto, directed by Maria Gas. It features eight costumes with Spanish connections, including those worn by Carmen Maura and Penélope Cruz, and twenty-two images from productions between 1973 and 2015. The show runs until May 20, 2018, with free admission.
