Experimenter Curators' Hub 2021 Goes Online with Focus on Collaborative Futures

institutional · 2026-04-20

The 11th edition of the Experimenter Curators' Hub will be held online from November 9 to 14, 2021, livestreamed on both Experimenter and ArtReview's websites. This platform fosters discourse on curatorial practice through discussions among leading international curators. According to cofounders Prateek and Priyanka Raja, this year's thematic framework emphasizes collaborative thinking and regenerative hope, inspired by conversations with long-term collaborator Natasha Ginwala during the COVID-19 pandemic's second wave. The shift to digital format, which began with online streaming in 2014, expands global accessibility across time zones while sacrificing the intimacy of in-person gatherings. Mario D'Souza, an Associate Curator for the 5th Kochi-Muziris Biennale based in Goa, interviewed the Rajas about the Hub's evolution. The event serves as an incubator for ideas where curators from diverse geographies and institutional backgrounds form unexpected connections, sometimes leading to future collaborations. While the physical format's interpersonal dynamics are missed, the organizers plan to maintain an integrated online component even when returning to in-person events, potentially as early as next year.
