Experimental CKD Exhibition at MAMAM Recife Bridges Brazilian and German Artists

exhibition · 2026-04-23

The exhibition titled CKD – Completely Knocked Down – Recife Bremen Connection is on display at MAMAM in Recife until December 11, 2021. Curated by Francisco Valença Vaz and Rebekka Kronsteiner, it showcases the works of five Brazilian and four German artists, emphasizing fragments instead of completed pieces, often within their shipping packaging. The project commenced with a shipping container situated at Marco Zero in Recife. Initially planned for 2020, the exhibition was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. Notable contributions include pieces by Paulo Bruscky, Silvio Hansen, and Wolfgang Hainke. Tragically, Silvio Hansen, a political prisoner, passed away before the event, leaving behind works that critique violence against Brazilian democracy. After Recife, the artworks will be sent to Bremen for further exploration.
