Exist launches 'Spacelip' lip balm grown with ingredients from the International Space Station

other · 2026-05-05

London-based brand Exist has debuted 'Spacelip', a lip balm containing a bioactive complex cultivated aboard the International Space Station. The product, launched on 30 April 2026, uses Lysate, an extremophile ingredient grown outside the station for 18 months and found by NASA to have healing properties 300 times more powerful than Earth-grown hyaluronic acid. Spacelip comes in two formulations: Origin 001 (scented with Givaudan) and Void 000 (unscented). The packaging, designed by founder Lauren Bowker, is plastic-free and inspired by animal teeth and 1930s lip balm cases, resembling spaceships from Denis Villeneuve's Arrival. Bowker, a chemist and former founder of The Unseen, aims to disrupt the beauty industry with renewable chemistry and circular materials. Spacelip is available for pre-order and ships from 28 May 2026.
