Exhibition 'Sitting Together' Re-examines Eastern European Art Through Parallel Chronologies Project
The exhibition titled 'Sitting Together. Parallel Chronologies of Coincidences in Eastern Europe' took place at transit.sk in Bratislava, Slovakia, from December 13, 2016, to February 25, 2017. Curated by Zsuzsa László and Petra Feriancová, it emerged from the research initiative Parallel Chronologies, which was launched in 2009 by Dóra Hegyi and László. The display was organized into three thematic sections: the first addressed significant events that influenced Eastern European art; the second explored the educational functions of art within state-controlled frameworks; and the third showcased modern interpretations of events from the 1970s. It highlighted intersectional perspectives on artistic activities in Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia, underscoring their social and historical significance.
