Ex-Spandau Ballet Singer Ross Davidson Sentenced to 14 Years for Rape

other · 2026-05-01

Ross Davidson, 37, known as Ross Wild during his time as a singer for Spandau Ballet, has received a 14-year prison sentence after being found guilty of eight offenses, including rape and attempted rape. The Finchley native, who hails from Aberdeen, recorded himself assaulting six women between August 2013 and December 2019, during his peak popularity. He considered himself "sex positive" and believed he could engage in "sex on demand." Judge John Dodd KC at Wood Green Crown Court remarked that Davidson had "abused" women's trust as his career progressed. He was convicted in separate trials: in July 2024 for rape, two sexual assault charges, and voyeurism, and in January 2025 for a March 2015 rape in London and an attempted rape in Thailand in December 2019. He also admitted to voyeurism. Prosecutor Richard Hearnden highlighted the vulnerability of the victims in the videos. While victims shared their experiences, Davidson was seen reading a book. He will face a lifelong sexual harm prevention order and be registered as a sex offender. Five victims were present, with one expressing hope that his accountability would inspire others to come forward. Det Con Kamila Kedadrova noted that the Met has significantly increased arrests and charges for serious sexual offenses.
