Ex Manifattura Tabacchi in Turin to become archival and cultural hub
The international competition to transform the 4.5-hectare site of the former Manifattura Tabacchi in Turin has been won by a consortium led by Eutropia Architettura, which includes Pininfarina Architecture and Weber Architects. After being unused for 20 years, the area will be revitalized into a cultural and archival hub. The Agenzia del Demanio announced the competition in 2023, following a protocol established in 2022 with the Ministry of Culture, the City of Turin, the Piedmont Region, Politecnico di Torino, and the University of Turin. A budget of €15 million is set for remediation and demolition by 2025. The project will feature university spaces, public areas, and a covered piazza, with the winning team given 90 days to propose a feasibility study, with initial designs anticipated next year.
