Ex-FBI Director James Comey Indicted Over Seashell Photo Deemed Threat to Trump

Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted on Tuesday for a social media post showing seashells arranged on a beach, which officials described as a threat against US President Donald Trump. The two-count indictment charges Comey with knowingly and willfully making a threat to take the life of or inflict bodily harm upon Trump, and with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce. The seashells photo was posted nearly a year ago but was later deleted. This is the second criminal case against Comey in recent months, part of the Trump administration Justice Department's efforts to prosecute political opponents. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, a Trump loyalist and former personal lawyer, secured the indictment to prove his suitability for the permanent role. Critics argue the prosecution may be vindictive, especially after a previous unrelated indictment was dismissed. Comey oversaw the early investigation into Trump's 2016 campaign coordination with Russia and was fired by Trump, leading to a long-standing feud.
