Ex Dogana in Rome Opens New Exhibition Space Studio Volante with 'Ex voto'

Studio Volante, a factory space within Rome's Ex Dogana in San Lorenzo, is inaugurating its new exhibition area with the group show 'Ex voto' on an unspecified date in 2018. The show is organized by the EX collective—Loredana Calvet, Silvia Marsano, and Francesca Lacroce, assisted by Tiziano Tancredi—and features works by resident artists Andreco, Borondo, Ciredz, Giannì, Puxeddu, Sbagliato, Scorcucchi, and Tellas, plus temporary resident Luca Grimaldi. All artists have studios inside the Factory. The exhibition uses marble as a common support, referencing the historical stone workshops of San Lorenzo and the former customs rail yard. The title 'Ex voto' plays on the collective's name (EX) and the venue (Ex Dogana), evoking pagan votive offerings and the connection between inside and outside. On May 18, 2018, a solo show by Luca Grimaldi, curated by Chiara Pietropaoli and Giulia Lotti, will open at Studio Volante. The initiative aims to consolidate the artists' presence, foster internal collaboration, and establish a stable contemporary art program.
