Ewa Juszkiewicz's first solo museum show at Thyssen-Bornemisza challenges feminine beauty norms
The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid presents a monographic exhibition of Polish artist Ewa Juszkiewicz (born 1984 in Gdańsk), her first solo museum presentation. Curated by Guillermo Solana in collaboration with the artist, the show features over twenty paintings from 2013 to the present, including a significant group created specifically for this exhibition. Since 2011, Juszkiewicz has reinterpreted European portrait traditions, particularly 18th- and 19th-century female portraiture, using distortion and transformation to challenge conventional beauty standards. The exhibition is part of the Blanca and Borja Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection programme.
