Evolve-Maire Tecnimont Foundation Launches in Milan with Second Life Exhibition
Maire Tecnimont, an Italian engineering firm headquartered in Milan's Garibaldi complex, has established the Evolve-Maire Tecnimont Foundation to train 'humanist engineers' capable of addressing energy transition and digitalization through a blend of art, culture, and technology. The foundation, inaugurated in December 2021, is built around a historical archive of 7,000 drawings and projects by renowned Italian engineers and architects, including historical measuring tools, now digitized and accessible to scholars. Its first exhibition, 'Second Life: tutto torna,' curated by Marco Meneguzzo, a professor at the Accademia di Brera, opened at the foundation's headquarters and runs until July 20. The show is the latest iteration of a traveling competition for young artists under 28, focusing on sustainability, reuse, and circular economy. The competition, promoted by Alia Servizi Ambientali (waste management company for Florence, Prato, and Pistoia), will select 30 works for display in Tuscan venues from October 2022, with prizes of €2,500, €1,500, and €1,200. Milan's mayor Giuseppe Sala attended the opening, praising the synergy between humanistic and technical approaches. Foundation president Fabrizio Di Amato and CEO Alessandro Bernini emphasized the need for engineering to incorporate ethical, social, and environmental dimensions. The foundation aims to promote the group's historical heritage, disseminate scientific content, and collaborate with universities and nonprofits.
