Evident Scientific Announces Winners of 2026 Microscope Photo Contest
Evident Scientific, a spinoff from Olympus, has announced the victors of its sixth annual Image of the Year contest, featuring 17 stunning microscope photographs. The global award went to Katie Holden from the United Kingdom for her piece titled 'Neuronal Cosmos,' depicting neurospheres derived from induced pluripotent stem cells that mimic brain structures. The competition received submissions from 34 nations. Other notable winners include Muhammad Tahir Khan (Ireland) in Materials Science for his lignin fiber images, along with regional champions Gerd Günther (Germany, EMEA), Igor Siwanowicz (USA, Americas), and Kentaro Mochizuki (Japan, APAC). Winners received Evident microscopes and cameras, while 12 additional photographers received honorable mentions. Evident CEO Wes Pringle commended the fusion of art and science. This competition emerged following Olympus Corporation's divestment, which also led to the formation of OM Digital Solutions.
