Evelyn Taocheng Wang's First Italian Solo Show at Museion

Museion in Bolzano presents 'Sweet Landscape', the first institutional solo exhibition in Italy by Rotterdam-based artist Evelyn Taocheng Wang (b. 1981, Chengdu). Working across painting, writing, installation, performance, and fashion, Wang blends classical Chinese ink painting and calligraphy with Western art traditions. The exhibition features new site-specific works inspired by Bolzano's local food market, medieval frescoes at Roncolo Castle and the Dominican Church, and the region's cultural hybridity. Key bodies of work include imitations of Agnes Martin's grid paintings, silk paintings, garments from her wardrobe, and her ongoing series referencing the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Frog Prince'. The artist describes the exhibition as a 'fantasized womb', creating a space for responding to local history. The show runs until November 8, 2026.
