Eva Kot'átková's Immersive Exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Eva Kot'átková (Prague, 1982) presents a solo exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan, featuring works that explore childhood imagination versus adult bureaucracy. The centerpiece, 'Stomach of the World' (2017), is a blue fabric esophagus leading to a video installation where a hypnotic voice forces children into meaningless repetitive actions. The show includes 'Heads', large iron sculptures representing psychological disorders like schizophrenia, and 'Diaries' (2018), oversized books referencing surrealist fragmentation. 'Asking the Hair about Scissors' (2018) turns a haircut into a performance about bodily surrender. The title work, 'The Dream Machine is Asleep' (2018), created for the venue, invites children to draw and record dreams, with a giant bed where visitors listen to their voices. The exhibition runs at HangarBicocca, curated by Silvia Somaschini.
