Eva Jospin's 'Selva' at Museo Fortuny, Venice

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Eva Jospin's solo exhibition 'Selva' is on view at the Museo Fortuny in Venice, occupying the portego of the Gothic palace. The French artist, granddaughter of former Prime Minister Lionel Jospin, works across sculpture, installation, video, drawing, and fiber art, creating forests and architectural landscapes from cardboard, paper, metal, and textiles. Her recent show 'Chambre de soie' at the Palace of Versailles featured a 100-meter silk tapestry embroidered with hemp, linen, and cotton. Jospin has collaborated with luxury group LVMH, including Dior for an Haute Couture runway set (2021-22) and a limited-edition Miss Dior perfume case (2022), Max Mara for a winter garden installation in Milan (2022), and Ruinart for the 'Carte Blanche' series presented at Miart, Frieze, and Art Basel fairs in Hong Kong, Basel, Miami, and Paris (2023). At Palazzo Fortuny, her large-scale cardboard and wood sculpture 'Galleria' (2021-2024) depicts a forest trompe-l'oeil, while 'Nymphées' (2022-2024) pays homage to Venetian architecture with embroidered panels. Two video works, 'Forêt' (2023) and 'Carmontelle' (2023), explore naturalism, artifice, and the sublime. The exhibition runs during the Venice Biennale.
