Eva Gold wraps Peckham listening bar Upstairs at Hausu in curtains
Artist Eva Gold has designed the interior of Upstairs at Hausu, a new listening bar above the Hausu restaurant in Peckham, London. The space is enveloped in wool and sheer voile curtains, referencing David Lynch's Twin Peaks Red Room and Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich's 1927 Velvet and Silk Cafe installation. Heavy chocolate-coloured wool drapes line the periphery, while sheer curtains divide tables into intimate seating pockets. The bar plays vinyl records, hosts DJs, and serves cocktails inspired by the restaurant's Asian menu. Speakers are distributed throughout for balanced sound, and paper lanterns provide soft lighting. The project follows the recent reopening of nearby nightclub Peckham Palais. Photography by Adam Firman.
