Eva Frapiccini's Photographic Archaeology at Pharaildis Van den Broeck's Milan Atelier
The eleventh edition of Project Room, a program dedicated to the legacy of Flemish fashion designer Pharaildis Van den Broeck (Opwijk, 1952 – Milan, 2014), features artist and researcher Eva Frapiccini (Recanati, 1978). Hosted in the atelier where Van den Broeck painted her last six years, the exhibition presents Frapiccini's unpublished photographs that explore memory, light, and collective identity. The site-specific installation connects photographs taken in Milan and Turin with Van den Broeck's paintings, who worked for Versace, Trussardi, and Missoni before abandoning fashion in the mid-1990s to focus on painting. The show runs until May 30, 2025, curated by Barbara Garatti, who manages the archive. A text by architecture historian Maria Vittoria Capitanucci interprets glass and light as symbolic thresholds. The Archivio Atelier, established as a committee in 2020, is a member of AitArt and MuseoCity, promoting research across visual arts, design, and transdisciplinary practices.
