Eva Frapiccini's Dreamscape: A Sonic Archive of Global Dreams

Eva Frapiccini's immersive sound installation Dreamscape, the third iteration of her ongoing project, is hosted at Polo del '900 in Turin from May 9 to 24, 2023, before traveling to Naples and Genoa. For eleven years, the artist has collected dreams from over 2,300 individuals worldwide inside her portable Dreams' Time Capsule, a high-tech igloo made of hand-sewn parachute fabric with LED lighting. Participants enter alone to record their dreams, exploring the Jungian concept of a collective unconscious. The capsule has traveled to Bogotá, Cairo, Stockholm, Fittja, Genoa, Bergamo, Turin, Potsdam, Berlin, Sharjah, Dubai, Manama, Riga, and Wakefield. Frapiccini noted recurring themes during historical events like Egypt's first democratic vote and Brexit. The project's first aesthetic formalization was the 2022 immersive exhibition Dust of Dreams at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, featuring projections and performance. Dreamscape adds a sonic component activated by the audience. Cristina Cobianchi, President of AlbumArte, highlighted how the multimedia works expanded the association's engagement with new technologies, contemporary dance, theater, and sound festivals.
